a delayed blog

Last Friday's plans fell through, and I found myself heading to the bank instead and paying the last of what I owed on my car. Woohoo, no more car payments! My celebration included filling up and getting a car wash. I've been listening to Beck's Guerolito album quite a bit lately. I think because Beck starts with B and I tend to browse artists alphabetically if I use that ipod instead of my mp3 player. Anyway, here is a clip with a song I like. I added it to my playlist too.

yowza

it's Tuesday and I still find myself trying to recover from the experience. I had an awesome time from Thursday to Sunday! I'm not so sure where to start, so perhaps i better start from the beginning.

I left work an hour early on Thursday, in order to make it out to a place called Emo's in Austin. My first bit of music was from Austin's Dan Dyer. I enjoyed it for the most part. I felt some of the songs (or maybe one of the songs) kind of took forever to finish. Other than those minutes of repetitive eeehee's and whatnot, we moved away. Next up was some band from Arkansas that I already forgot. White Ghost Shivers followed, and i was getting a little nervous about the coming weekend.

I am going to steal the wikipedia entry, because i'm not too sure what to say about them:

White Ghost Shivers is an eclectic American band based in Austin, Texas. They mix cabaret, jazz, vaudeville, hokum, western swing, hillbilly, jugband and ragtime into a high energy show.White Ghost Shivers won an award for the "Best Novelty Band" at the 2007 Austin Music Awards.

So basically I enjoyed their music playing, but not necessarily their songs. I guess i'm just not that hillbilly after all. Still I suppose it was great entertainment.

Next up, the reason I left work early: Mates of State! Free Show!

I haven't known about them for too long, but I really like what they have going on. I was a little disappointed to not hear "Blue and gold print". Other than that, it was a redeeming performance. A great way to wrap up the night and kick off my Austin City Limits weekend.

More on that later; for now here are some clips and pics. The first clip is "Fraud in the 80s" and the next is "Like U Crazy". I have more clips from this show and from the following day, but i'll leave that for when i have things a little more organized. Enjoy!
