if you must know

i stood staring into the street, zoned out.
it is not uncommon scene. they stand around chatting. oblivious for sure...
my buddy interrupts.

he wants to know what is wrong.
he can't pinpoint it, but something has been off about me lately.
did something happen? did somebody die?
he offers an ear, but in the end i tell him nothing except a sincere thanks.
so many deaf and blind folks out there; i am glad he's not one of them.

i do not have an answer for him anyway.
i would like to know too.

as i sat there shielded from the rain and enjoying two tall lone star beers, i had to wonder what you'd think if you saw it with your eyes. i know, i know.. it is silly to think you would ever join. in two years i've invited you to this ride, there is always something more important. i get it, and yet i still wonder.

i won't invite you anymore, but just hope someday you will join me...

1/1/11: a view from the vip

at first i was going to add this at the bottom of the pics on that last post. but technically this was already 2011, so why not its own? i didn't record or take many pics after midnight. actually the whole night.

after midnight, the show moved from the outdoor stage (as in previous pics) to the indoor for those with vip tickets. it actually felt like a nice size crowd there. i was nice and only got in the way for 1 video.





in 2011 i plan on getting a new mic for my audio recorder. my current one is busted and i'd rather hunt for a different mic than get that same sony mic again. anyone know of any good microphones?

i guess i should say something about flaco jimenez. (and link to wikipedia). i had always heard people talk of flaco jimenez. i don't think i got around to actually hearing him until 2010. it has been fun each time, and hopefully he's playing at the right times and places in 2011 so i can hear more.

riders! from boneshakers to blue star, then onward to the bridge. normally the downtown highlife bicycle club (dhbc) meets at the alamo at 9pm on the last friday of the month. due to road closures and whatnot, they moved the meetup spot for this ride only.




an attempt at a shot of the san antonio from the bridge. lessoned learned: don't use the bridge railing as a steadying tool.




everyone had different plans, but we did manage to ride around for a few before splitting off to our respective parties. this was the last stop of the December 2010 DHBC ride. friendly spot ice house.





I rang in the new year popping fireworks and listening to Flaco Jimenez at Boneshakers...and still riding :)
